This is the first of several Liberal Arts Collaborative for Emerging Tech (LACET) Aligning AI webinar series for AY26-27. Our theme this year is: "How Can Liberal Arts Colleges Align AI with Their Values?" Each webinar will discuss the topic from the perspectives of various campus collaborators - faculty/staff, alumni, students, administrators, and vendors. In between webinars, LACET will host a "binding together" chat that allows folks to connect and collaborate on the topic. Faculty and Staff Perspectives Liberal arts institutions have long grounded their work in core values like critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and intellectual breadth. As artificial intelligence reshapes higher education, how can these institutions keep those values central through the shift? In this first webinar of the AY26–27 series, join George Cusack from Carleton College, Summar West from Connecticut College, James Truman from Trinity College, and Willie Wilson from Franklin and Marshall College for a candid panel conversation exploring whether, and how, the use of AI in coursework can align with the core mission of a liberal arts education. Panelists will share perspectives from their campuses on opportunities, tensions, and lessons learned as they navigate this evolving landscape.
