This is a webinar presentation with Dr. Rhoan Garnett that occured on March 24, 2026 from 4 - 5 pm ET.
The session is organized around five belonging gaps. These are recurring conditions in institutional design that shape how students experience belonging, often long before AI enters the picture.
These gaps often become visible when students move between schools or institutions with different assumptions about voice, help-seeking, and how college works. AI serves as a diagnostic lens. Students use chatbots for many reasons. The important question is what it means when the chatbot feels lower-risk than asking a person for help.
During the webinar, participants were able to engage with a Padlet to discuss the five gaps as it relates to personal experiences with each of the gaps. Please continue to engage with the Padlet as you review this webinar.
Note: There was no formal presentation to visually support the conversation.
