Animating Question: How have the American public’s attitudes towards vaccination changed over the years and what factors have informed those changes?

Courses I’ve taken at Conn that explored topics like bioethics and the role of storytelling in illness, as well as my experience interning at a hospital have shown me that everyone has their own unique set of experiences that inform their relationship with the healthcare field. I am interested in how the public’s attitudes towards the healthcare field, specifically vaccination, have changed and what factors have influenced those changes. My exploration of these questions has also been impacted by living during the COVID-19 pandemic and witnessing the response to the prospect of a COVID-19 vaccine.
